Clinical Significance
In vitro diagnostic test for the quantitative measurement of vancomycin in human serum used in the diagnosis and treatment of overdose and in therapeutic monitoring.  Vancomycin is a glycopeptide antibiotic which is effective against most gram positive bacteria, and is used primarily in the treatment of those infections in which other antibiotics are ineffective or contraindicated.
