Clean catch random urine
Transport Container
Sterile, leak proof urine container, UA preservative tube (red/yellow top), or unpreserved clear top urine tube.
Transport Temperature
If the specimen is not processed within one hour after collection, cap the container tightly and store at 2-8o C.
Specimen Stability
Specimens collected in unpreserved tubes or cups are stable for 8 hours under refrigeration, or 1 hour at room temperature.
Specimens collected in preserved UA (red/yellow top) tubes are stable under refrigeration or at room temperature for 72 hours.
Specimens collected in preserved UA (red/yellow top) tubes are stable under refrigeration or at room temperature for 72 hours.
Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Unpreserved specimens received at >8 hrs after collection, preserved specimens received at >72 hours after collection, gray top urine tubes
