Clinical Significance
In vitro diagnostice test for the quantitative determination of total thyroxine in human plasma.  T4 is the principal hormone produced by the thyroid gland and along with T3 are primarily responsible for metabolism.  Thyroxine also plays a crucial role in heart and digestive function, brain development, bone health, and muscle control.
