Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Gross hemolysis, short draw tubes, clotted specimens.  Ultracentrifuge grossly lipemic specimens.


Limitations
This test will not detect platelet or vascular disorders.


Clinical Significance
The APTT test is a screening test of intrinsic pathway function.  It measures deficiencies mainly in Factors VIII, IX, XI, XII, and Fletcher, but but can detect deficiencies of all factors except VII.
