Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Gross hemolysis, short draw tubes, clotted specimens.  Ultracentrifuge grossly lipemic samples.


Clinical Significance
A mixing study is the first step in determining the cause of an abnormally prolonged clot-based coagulation assay result for PT or PTT.  It is designed to determine whether the prolongation is due to a coagulation factor deficiency or an inhibitor of coagulation.
