Limitations
This test detects both viable and non-viable influenza A and B.  Test performance depends on the amount of antigen in the specimen and may not correlate with virus culture results.  A negative result may occur if the level of antigen in a sample is below the detection limit of the test.  Positive test results do not rule out co-infections with other pathogens, and do not identify specific influenza A virus subtypes.  Individuals administered nasal influenza A vaccine may have a positive test result up to three days after vaccination.

Clinical Significance
Immunofluoresence test allowing the differential detection of influenza A and influenza B antigens.
