Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate is a non-specific screening test, increased rates are seen in infectious, inflammatory, degenerative, and neoplastic conditions, pregnancy, arthritis, collagen diseases, and other conditions involving the qualitative or quantitative changes in plasma proteins.
