Limitations
The CEA concentration will differ in a given specimen with assays from different manufacturers due to differences in assay methods and reagent specificity, and values cannot be used interchangeably.


Clinical Significance
In vitro diagnostic test for the quantitative measurement of carcinoembryonic antigen in human serum used as an aid in the management of cancer patients in whom changing CEA concentrations have been observed.
