Clinical Significance
In vitro diagnostic test for the quantitative measument of C4 complement in human serum. Measurements are used as an aid in the diagnosis of immunologic disorders associated with C4 complement protein. The complement system is an integral part of the antigen-nonspecific immune defense and can be activated via two reaction pathways: the alternative and the classical pathways. The complement component C4 is a part of the classical pathway.
