Clinical Significance
In vitro diagnostic test for the quantitative measument of C3 complement in human serum. C3 is used as an aid in the diagnosis of immunologic disorders associated with the C3 complement protein. The complement system is an integral part of the antigen-nonspecific immune defense and can be activated via two reaction pathways: the classical and the alternative pathways. The complement component C3 is a key protein in both pathways.
