Clinical Significance
In vitro diagnostic test for the quantitative measurement of albumin in human serum.  Albumin is formed in the liver and serves to transport calcium, fatty acids, bilirubin, hormones, vitamins, and certain drugs. It also serves to maintain intra and extra vascular osmotic pressure.  Decreased serum Albumin levels can result from liver and kidney disease or malnutrition.
