A diagnosis of Varicella should not be made on the basis of the anti-VZV results alone, but should be correlated with the clinical evaluation and results of other diagnostic procedures.  High levels of IgG anti-VZV may reduce IgM anti-VZV reactivity.

Clinical Significance
VZV is generally categorized into Varicella (chickenpox) and Herpes Zoster (shingles).  This test is used as an aid in the diagnosis of primary infection or reactivation.
