Instructions
Collect fresh unformed stool in a clean container.  Transfer unformed stool into SAF fixative.  Alternatively, send unpreserved stool in sterile container with screw-top lid.  Avoid contamination with water or urine.

  • 2–8 °C up to 5 days
  • 15–25 °C up to 2 days


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
The following conditions will result in a rejected specimen:
  • Rectal swab
  • Sample in Cary-Blair media (Para-Pak C&S)
