In-house (BUMCT ONLY):
• EDTA specimen may be sent at ambient temperature, plasma must be separated within 6 hours of collection.
Other sites:
• Centrifuge EDTA specimen at 1200xg for 20 mins and transfer no more than 1.8mL of plasma. Note: the absolute minimum volume acceptable is 0.5mL of plasma. After centrifugation, plasma must be sent FROZEN to BUMCT.

Clinical Significance
A real-time PCR assay of extracted nucleic acids for the in vitro quantitative detection of BK virus in plasma. Limit of Detection: 100 copies/mL Detected, but below limit of quantitation: 100-315 copies/mL Limit of Quantitation: 316-7.48x10e8 cop/mL.
