Specimen Stability
Room Temperature = Fixed slides - indefinitely
Room Temperature = Cytolyt fixative cups - 21 days from collection.
Refrigerated = Fresh specimens stable for 48 hours (except CSF stable 4 hours)
Frozen = not acceptable


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Slides broken beyond repair, specimen leaked, incomplete or missing information on requisition, specimen submitted in expired vial according to label.
