Instructions
Order Cytology sample in CPRS filling our requestion for Cytology. Paperwork must accompany sample to the laboratory.
Collect Spinal Fluid with Lumbar puncture kit. Send to Laboratory ASAP

Transport Container
Tube #4, If there are no request for anything special to be done the laboratory staff will add 1 part Cytolyt to 3 parts specimen in conical tube, accession, pack in small biohazard bag with absorbent pouch and send with courier to the Consolidated Network Cytology Laboratory in West Roxbury, Mass.
If CSF sample is for an evaluation of Lymphoma/Leukemia- Notify the pathologist covering Clinical Pathology.
**Do not dilute the fluid, give to Send Out Dept
Sample will go to DHMC for Flow Cytometry.
