Clinical Significance
Decisions to supplement individual patients should not be based solely on levels of total testosterone, but on overall clinical status. The Endocrine Society guidelines recommend making a diagnosis of hypogonadism only on the basis of clinical symptoms and signs and an ‘unequivocally low testosterone level’. Treatment decisions are complex, and providers are referred to the guidelines and other resources.
