Clinical Significance
In a standard lipid panel, the LDL value is calculated based on the concentrations of total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. At triglyceride concentrations above 300 mg/dL, the calculated LDL is inaccurate. In such cases, it is appropriate to measure LDL directly.
