Clinical Significance
Colonization with H. Pylori is associated with risk of patients developing gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastric adenocarcinoma. Serologic testing is recommended only for symptomatic patients. H. Pylori IgG may be detected for years in infected individuals, even after successful antibiotic treatment.
