Preferred Specimen

One 4.5 mL light green top tube
Pediatric: One light green top tube.

Other Acceptable Specimens

Red top tube
Gold top tube

Instructions

CO2 will be falsely decreased if collected in microtainer.

Sample must be centrifuged within two hours of collection. Samples collected in a red (serum) or dark green (heparin) top tube must be removed from the red cells and put into aliquot tubes following centrifugation.
