Flocked swab placed in 3 mL of BD UVT viral transport media


Instructions

BD UVT viral transport media with flocked swab must be used (Lawson # 100163). Place sample in the refrigerator outside of specimen processing. There is a rack marked Molecular Diagnostics.

Frozen: 2 months


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Non-validated sample types will be sent to a Reference Laboratory. Any other transport media will be rejected. Calcium alginate swabs will be rejected.

Clinical Significance
Bordetella pertussis and Bordetella parapertussis testing performed with the Diasorin Simplexa Bordetella Direct Assay. This assay is FDA cleared.
