This test only includes immunotyping and Pathologist interpretation. Please refer to Monoclonal Gammopathy Screening Panel if additional testing is desired. 

Free Lambda and Kappa Light Chains (FRLAK) and Serum Protein Electrophoresis (SPEN3) tests can be added on at physician request if clinically indicated.


Preferred Specimen
1 Gold tube (SST)


Note: Primary (parent) tube MUST be sent. Any aliquots or transfer tubes will be rejected.

1 mL (2 mL optimal)


Instructions
Centrifuge for complete separation of serum from red cells.

Within 24 hours M-F, samples collected on Friday will be reported on Monday. 


Clinical Significance
This test is used to ID the antibody or light chain responsible for the abnormal protein fraction in serum protein electrophoresis.
