A diagnosis of Varicella should not be made on the basis of the anti-VZV results alone but should be correlated with the clinical evaluation and results of other diagnostic procedures.  High levels of IgG anti-VZV may reduce IgM anti-VZV reactivity.

Clinical Significance
VZV is generally categorized into Varicella (chickenpox) and Herpes Zoster (shingles). This test is used as an aid in the diagnosis of primary infection or reactivation.

Performing Laboratory
Alverno Central Lab
