Clinical Significance
Acceptable initial test when antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is strongly suspected. May also be useful in estimating risk of thrombosis and/or pregnancy-related morbidity in patients with SLE.
Presence of moderate to high levels of B2GP1 IgG and or IgM antibodies (>40 U/mL) on two or more occasions at least 12 weeks apart is a laboratory criterion for the diagnosis of antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). International reference materials and consensus of units for B2GP1 antibodies have not been established. Strong clinical correlation is recommended for a diagnosis of APS.
