2 mL aliquot (20 mL aliquot optimal)

Instructions

Mix the specimen well and measure the 24 hour collected volume (RECORD TOTAL VOLUME)
Aliquot 20 mL sample into a separate plastic screw-cap container
Refrigerate until tested

Clinical Significance

Proteinuria is characteristic of renal disease and concentrations may be increased with diabetes, hypertension, nephritic syndrome, and drug nephrotoxicity.
