Patient Preparation
Patient needs to collect 24 Hour urine specimen (see instructions link below)

Minimum Volume
2 mL aliquot (20 mL aliquot optimal)


Instructions
  • Mix the specimen well and measure the 24 hour collected volume (RECORD TOTAL VOLUME)
  • Aliquot 20 mL sample into a separate plastic screw-cap container
  • Refrigerate until tested

Clinical Significance
Proteinuria is characteristic of renal disease and concentrations may be increased with diabetes, hypertension, nephritic syndrome, and drug nephrotoxicity.
