Store at 1-6 °C if not tested immediately. Sample can be tested for up to three days after collection.

Specimen drawn in wrong tube; grossly hemolyzed specimen; improperly labeled; quantity not sufficient for analysis .

Reference Range
Negative

If the fetal screen is positive, the Blood Bank technologist sends the test Kleihauer Betke sample to Hematology. The Pharmacy dispenses the number of Rh Immunoglobulin (Rhogam) based on the Kleihauer Betke result.


Clinical Significance
Detect Rho(D) positive fetal red blood cells in the maternal circulation; Rh immune globulin dosage determination
