4 mL frozen whole blood collected in an EDTA (lavender-top) tube and
12 mL frozen plasma collected in an EDTA (lavender-top) tube
12 mL frozen plasma collected in an EDTA (lavender-top) tube
Minimum Volume
4 mL whole blood • 12 mL plasma
Instructions
Collect 7 EDTA (lavender-top) tubes. Centrifuge and carefully transfer plasma using pipette on 6 tubes into a clear 12x75 mm polypropylene transport tube(s) with clear plug cap. DO NOT use colored capped transport vials. Store at -10° to -70°C. Send the 7th tube as frozen whole blood.
Note 1: Patient Service Reps will need 7 collection labels (1 per 4 mL EDTA drawn) and 6 destination labels that states approximately 2 mL each. There will be 6 plasma samples and 1 whole blood that is sent to SJC.
Note 2: Will need a PSC only rule that states "Draw 7 lavender tubes - after centrifugation of six tubes, separate off the plasma and transfer into 6 tubes, 1 remaining whole blood and freeze immediately."
