Clinical Significance
The Lyme disease antibody index is used as an aid for diagnosing neuroborreliosis. The assay requires paired serum and CSF. A result set of lyme disease antibody index >1.2, control antibody index <1.0, and albumin ratio <0.0078 provides strong evidence of intrathecal synthesis of b. Burgdorferi antibodies and supports the diagnosis of neuroborreliosis.
