Instructions
Draw blood in an EDTA Vacutainer® tube. Mix thoroughly. Centrifuge at 3000 x g for 10 minutes at 4° C within 6 hours of draw. Remove the plasma and place into a 12 x 75mm Nichols tube. Store at -20° C or -70° C immediately and ship the plasma frozen. Cytokine levels may demonstrate diurnal variation. Recommend cytokine levels be determined at the same time of day for improved longitudinal comparison.

Clinical Significance
This test can be used to measure the bFGF level to serve as an independent prognostic indicator for patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and multiple myeloma (MM).
