Preferred Specimen
1 mL frozen plasma collected in an EDTA (lavender-top) tube - protected from light


Patient Preparation
Overnight fasting is required

Minimum Volume
0.5 mL


Instructions
Protect from light. Separate cells within 6 hours by centrifugation at 2-8°C (2200-2500 rmp, 800-100g ) for 5-10 minutes. Transfer plasma to an amber polypropylene or polyethylene transport tubes to protect from light. Alternately, neutral color polypropylene or polyethlene tubes can be used if wrapped in aluminum foil. Freeze the tubes at -10 to -30°C. Ship frozen.
