Instructions
Draw sample without anticoagulant, allow to clot. Separate serum into a plastic tube and freeze sample within one hour of time drawn.
With multiple tests, submit a separate tube for each test. Avoid hemolysis.
Do not submit the sample in a glass tube.
All tubes must be clearly marked with time drawn. Submit all tubes with one test requisition.

Clinical Significance
Total Complement (CH50) concentration is an overall measure of the complement system. Decreased concentrations are observed in patients with complement factor deficiencies and disease activity, e.g., systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and immune complex disease.
