Preferred Specimen
2 mL serum collected in a red-top tube (no gel)
Patient Preparation
Patient should be fasting 12 hours
Minimum Volume
1 mL
Instructions
1. Gently invert draw tube 5X (DO NOT SHAKE).
2. Let blood clot 30-60 min at room temperature.
3. Centrifuge for 10 min.
4. Aliquot top layer from red top draw tube and place SERUM in transport tube and dispose of draw tube. Label the transport tube as No Additive Serum Red. ONLY ship No Additive Serum in transport tube.
5. Store and transport refrigerated. It is acceptable to store frozen and ship refrigerated. Do not ship frozen on dry ice.
