Clinical Significance
Kingella kingae is an important cause of septic arthritis, osteomyelitis, spondylodiscitis and bacteremia, primarily in children. Because of the urgent nature of acute pediatric septic arthritis and difficulties associated with culturing this fastidious organism, PCR based methods should be helpful in the diagnosis of K. kingae infections.
