Clinical Significance
The general toxicology screen is a mass spectroscopy-based test that is designed with the overdose patient in mind, or where a detailed medical history is not available. The assay tests for over 140 drugs and/or drug metabolites. Many of the substances tested for are prescription and over the counter medications that are not typically screened for in traditional drug tests. Only drug test results equal to or greater than the cutoff are reported. Negative results are not listed on the report. Quantitative results are not available on this test.
