Specimen Stability
Specimen viability decreases during transit. Send specimen to testing lab for viability determination. Do not freeze. Do not reject.
Methodology
Tissue Culture
Setup Schedule
Sets up 6 days a week.
Clinical Significance
The specimen received will be established into fibroblast cultures. These cultures are expanded and, if requested, forwarded to the appropriate laboratory for further studies. Additional cell cultures are cryopreserved and an attempt is made to maintain these cells for approximately 3 years. If longer storage or re-establishemnt of cell cultures is required, notify the cytogenetics laboratory.
