Glucose Tolerance 3 Hour

Message
Test consists of blood and urine sugar levels tested. Fasting blood sugar and urine collected, glucola given and urine and blood collected at the appropriate time intervals. Patient is required to stay in the Lab for the entirety of the test.

Preferred Specimen
Collect a Green Top (lithium heparin or Sodium Heparin), Grey Top tube, or serum separator (SST).
Collect Urine
Collect the Fasting glucose, then administer the glucola drink
Collect 1/2 an hour after drink
Collect 1 hour after drink
Collect 2 hours after drink
Collect 3 hours after drink


Instructions
Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Centrifuge within 30 minutes of collection.


Transport Temperature
Maintain at room temp while processing. Refrigerate for transport and long term storage.


Specimen Stability
After separation from cells: Ambient 8 hours; Refrigerated 3 days; Frozen 1 year
* Sample is stable for up to 3 days at room temperature when collected in a NaF Grey Top.
