Glucose Tolerance 2 Hour Post-Partum

Message
Fasting blood sugar collected, glucola given and blood collected at 2 hour interval. Patient is required to stay in the Lab for the entirety of the test.

Preferred Specimen
Grey Top(K Oxalate and NA Fluoride), or Green Top (Lithium Heparin or Sodium Heparin), or Serum Separator (SST).
Collect a fasting Glucose, then administer the glucola
Collect a 1 hour after drink
Collect a 2 hours after drink


Instructions
Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Centrifuge within 30 minutes of collection.


Transport Temperature
Maintain at room temp while processing. Refrigerate for transport and long term storage.


Specimen Stability
After separation from cells: Ambient 8 hours; Refrigerated 3 days; Frozen 1 year
* Sample stable for up to 3 days at room temperature when collected in a NaF Grey tube
