Limitations
Even after infection has been treated, positive results may persist. False-positive reactions may occur during pregnancy.
Clinical Significance
Rickettsiae are gram negative coccobacilli and short bacilli for which humans are incidental hosts except for human louse-borne typhus. Infections include Q Fever, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and many types of typhus.
