This test is for use at BFCMC, McKee and Summit View laboratories.
For NCMC use for IRIS downtime or if specimen is too bloody, mucoid or insufficient volume. All other times order: Urinalysis, Microscopic Only, reflex to culture if indicated/Lab order only MIC Only.

10 mL urine in clean, plastic urine container


Minimum Volume

Instructions
  • If urine preservative tube is sent, the primary specimen or Gray top C & S Urine tube (minimum volume 3 ml) must also be sent if culture is ordered or indicated.
  • Collect a random urine specimen (Instructions: English / Spanish). Maintain sterility.
  • Specimen must arrive within 60 minutes of collection.
  • If longer than 60 minutes before analysis, store at 2°-8°C.
