Clinical Significance
Arboviruses are classically defined as viruses that can be transmitted to humans by an arthropod vector. Arboviral diseases of humans may present with four manifestations: fever, encephalitis, hemorrhagic fever and polyarthritis. This panel includes of the following arboviruses that infect the central nervous system: St. Louis encephalitis, California encephalitis and Eastern and Western Equine encephalitis.
