Clinical Significance
Test uses real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) for the direct qualitative detection of nucleic acids for 3 enteric parasitic pathogens.
Results from the Enteric Parasite Panel should be used as an adjunct to clinical observations and other information available to the physician.
This test is a qualitative test and does not provide quantitative values nor indicate the quantity of organisms present.
The performance of this test has not been established for monitoring treatment of Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium parvum, Cryptosporidium hominis or Entamoeba histolytica.
- Giardia lamblia (syn. G duodenalis, G. intestinalis)
- Cryptosporidium (C. hominis, C. parvum only)
- Entamoeba histolytica
