Preferred Specimen
4.0 mL each, patient and control Lavender top (EDTA) Whole Blood (May require 2 lavendar tubes or 1 pink tube for patient)
 Slides - 2 well-made patient slides stained (wright stain or fixed in absolute methanol).
Specimens must arrive within 72 hours of draw.


Other Acceptable Specimens
Pink (EDTA) Whole Blood tube


Instructions
Whole Blood (EDTA) Do Not Aliquot. Patient and Control should be refrigerated, control tube should be labeled "Normal Control" with age and sex listed. Slides should be well made and wright stained or fixed in absolute methanol. All 3 samples must be sent at the same time.


Transport Temperature
Refrigerate.  Do Not Freeze.


Specimen Stability
72 hrs


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Hemolyzed or frozen.


Setup Schedule
Monday through Saturday. TAT = 4 days.
