Clinical Significance
Serum creatinine is increased in acute or chronic renal failure, urinary tract obstruction,
reduced renal blood flow, shock, dehydration, and rhabdomyolysis.
Causes of low serum creatinine concentration include debilitation and decreased muscle
mass. Exercise may cause an increased creatinine clearance.
