Instructions
Ordering:
This test provides a risk for Open Neural Tube Defects (ONTD) only. If risks for Down Syndrome and Trisomy 18 are desired, please order Epic code 3777 (Prenatal Quad Screen).
Collection:
Sample must be collected between 15-20 completed weeks gestation. The Opitmal time to collect the sample is between 16-18 weeks gestation.
Samples should be collected prior to the initiation of amniocentesis as increased levels of AFP may occur following amniocentesis.
Processing:
Must be frozen at -20 degrees C if not tested within 48 hours of collection.
