Lakeview: Refrigerated (2 days)

Methodology
Enzymatic (Cholesterol)
Glycerol Phosphate Oxidase (Triglyceride)
Accelerator Selective Detergent (HDL)
Colorimetric (Cholesterol, Triglyceride, HDL), LDL Calculation (Cholesterol - (Triglyceride/5) - HDL)

Setup Schedule
Hospital: Daily
Clinics: Monday - Friday

Report Available
Same day.

Reference Range
Cholesterol:
0 - 199 mg/dL

Triglyceride:
0 - 149 mg/dL

HDL:
Normal: > 40 mg/dL

LDL:
Normal: < 130 mg/dL
Borderline High: 130 - 159 mg/dL
High: 160 - 189 mg/dL
Very High: = 190 mg/dL

For patients at very high risk or with known cardiovascular disease, an LDL goal of 70 mg/dl is a therapeutic option.

Clinical Significance
Total LDL and HDL cholesterol, in conjunction with a triglyceride determination, provide valuable information for the risk of coronary artery disease. Total serum cholesterol analysis is useful in the diagnosis of hyperlipoproteinemia, atherosclerosis, hepatic and thyroid diseases. HDL cholesterol levels are inversely related to the risk for cardiovascular disease.
