Clinical Significance
Glycosuria occurs when the blood glucose level exceeds the renal threshold for glucose. After a carbohydrate-rich meal, some normal individuals may excrete small amounts of glucose in the urine. Also, in a condition known as benign glycosuria, nondiabetics may excrete glucose because of an abnormally low renal threshold.
