Clinical Significance
Crystals may deposit in and around the joint causing symptoms of clinical arthritis. The identification of a specific crystal confirms the diagnosis of a crystal-induced joint disorder. Monosodium urate, calcium pyrophosphate, cholesterol, hydroxyl apatite and corticosteroid crystals may be found in synovial fluids
