Clinical Significance
Pleural Fluid LDH testing: LDH may be used to indicate transudate vs. exudate using the ratio of LDH Pleural/Serum. Ratio <0.6 indicates a transudate, ratio of >0.6 indicates an excudate and a pleural fluid LDH more than 2/3 the normal upper limit for serum LDH is indicative of an exudate.
