Clinical Significance
The examination of urine sediment for eosinophils is studied in an effort to diagnose acute interstitial nephritis (AIN), associated with drug hypersensitivity, Renal Allograft rejection or other allergic reactions. Untreated AIN can lead to permanent renal damage; however, if detected early, simply closing administration of the drug can result in the return of normal renal function.
