Sickle Cell disease is an inherited condition characterized by the presence of hemoglobin S (Hb-S). Hb-S exists in a homozygous state (S/S) commonly known as Sickle Cell Disease or in a heterozygous state (A/S) commonly known as Sickle Cell Trait.
